The Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC announced on Twitter that its latest smartphones will be upgraded to Android N OS. This includes the models HTC 10, HTC One M9 and A9. Android vendors like HTC are still waiting to obtain the source code for Android N, so the timing of the upgrades are not certain. Google has previously announced that several Nexus devices will run on the new Android N OS later this year. However, the seamless update feature will not be enabled on any existing Nexus devices according to the news site Android Police. HTC is the first smartphone vendor to independently schedule Android OS upgrades. HTC has a habit of upgrading new Android OS versions early and was the first vendor to schedule Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrades. It also makes a real effort to explain how to upgrade to a new OS and the steps involved. HTC will apparently initially only upgrade its latest models. It’s not a surprise that HTC plans to upgrade the OS of its highly acclaimed flagship model HTC 10, since it hit markets in April. HTC One M9 and A9 that launched about a year ago will also receive upgrades. Additional models that will receive upgrades will be announced later this year according to HTC.
