Many Apple fans had hoped that the new Watch series would log sleep during several nights. It turned out just to be the opposite. The new Apple Watch Series 5 smartwatch boasts an always-on screen that never goes into idle mode while still keeping 18 hours of battery life.
Apple has achieved this feat by dimming the screen. This is possible due to these two technologies introduced in Apple Watch Series 5:
- the watch is able to determine the required frequency from 1 Hz to 60 Hz.
- the screen employs a new technology called LPTO, which is short for Low-Temperature Poly-silicon and Oxide.
Many variants available
There are several variants to choose from if you decide to buy the 5th generation Apple Watch smartwatch. For example,
- Titan, which is a new finish this year.
- Aluminum
- Stainless steel
Apple calls this “any case, any band, any style you want”. All variants run the new Watch OS 6 operating system and also include a compass.
How much does it cost in New Zealand?
