Asus has sent out invitations for the launch of its fourth generation of smartphones on September 21st. The new fourth generation contains five different phones including Asus Zenfone 4, 4 Pro, 4 Max, 4V and 4 Selfie.
The invitation sent out by Asus teases with the phrase “take a walk on the wide side”, which likely refers to the wide-angle camera lens.
Asus is an innovative phone maker that tries really hard to design and develop phones that possess a unique flair. Asus Zenfone 3, was released about a year ago in July 2016, and boasted a large number of configuration settings for personal customisation. Hence, expectations are high on the upcoming Asus Zenfone 4.
Asus Zenfone 4 Max
The specs for 5.5-inch Asus Zenfone 4 Max have already been published. Asus utilises the model number ZC554KL for the four different configuration options:
- Snapdragon 430
- Snapdragon 425
- 64 GB storage and 4 GB RAM memory
- 16 GB storage and 2 GB RAM memory
The main selling point of 4 Max is the gigantic 5,000 mAh battery. The predecessor Zenfone 3 Max sports a battery with a capacity of “only” 4,100 mAh. Asus has also invested heavily in advanced charging technologies. This investment seems to have paid off given that 15 minutes charging yields 3 hours of talk time. Fully charging the battery requires 4 hours.
The dual 13 MP rear cameras are also high-end. The wide-angle lens covers 120 degrees field of view.
Like most Asian manufactured phones, Max 4 sports dual-SIM cards. This set-up allows for having two different phone numbers at the same time seamlessly switching between work and leisure.
Pricing & availability
Asus produces mid-range smartphones, and Zenfone 3 presently retails at about $410. Pricing released in Russia indicates that 4 Max will cost approximately $365 inclusive of GST.
There are three colours to choose from: gold, black and pink.
