like to make regular additions to their product range. Hence, it is no surprise that rumours are flying about the potential release of a second-generation Fitbit Versa: the Fitbit Versa 2. How will this affordable smartwatch, with the heart of an activity tracker, compare against the highly popular original?
Much of the speculation points towards a very similar design but with a more colourful array to choose from. The Fitbit Versa 2 would surely stand out from its competitors with colours like Rose Pink, Purple and Cyan Blue being mooted. Other than that, we can expect water resistance to 50 metres, and a heart rate monitor. In addition, the aerospace-grade aluminium case might weigh in a little lighter than the original case. The rounded corners and coloured touchscreen that gave the original Versa its distinctive
look, should remain in place as well.
Activity tracking features
Even though the Fitbit Versa is primarily marketed as a smartwatch, its activity tracking capabilities have always been a big part of the device. The new generation model will come with a wide range of relevant features. For example,
automatic exercise recognition, swim tracking, cardio fitness level, guided breathing sessions, female health tracking, sleep tracking, and the ability to store music.
Notifications and GPS
Smartphone notifications will be part of the Versa 2, as well as
customisable clock faces.
Furthemore, third-party app support and on-screen workouts will surely entice users. As the original Versa has NFC for Fitbit Pay, the Versa 2 should offer the same. But what might be radically different is the inclusion of GPS. Will Fitbit put this technology into the Versa 2? There's much speculation about it, and all should be revealed shortly.
