Rumours abound as we await the release of the Huawei P30 Pro. With the P20 Pro making such a splash, how can the P30 push the envelope even further? How about four cameras on the back, all vertically arranged with a 10x optical zoom as part of the arrangement? That would certainly be a talking point, as would Sony’s 38-megapixel IMX607 1/1.8in sensor with quad-pixel phase detection autofocus, another rumoured feature. 

Some sources tell us to look for a teardrop notch with a small chin at the bottom, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. Only time will tell if the Huawei P30 Pro will boast a Quad HD resolution or 1080p display but industry talk suggests a screen size of 6 inches for the basic P30, while the whole thing will be powered by the Kirin 980 chip. This is still Huawei’s signature processor and one that compares more than favourably against pretty much everything in the marketplace.   

We might see 12 GB of RAM, but if that will apply to the base model or only to an advanced version of the P30 Pro is yet to be revealed. 5G network support, for when we eventually get 5G that is, will possibly be part of the big picture and, for something smaller but just as welcome, the much-loved 3.5 mm headphone port could make a timely return. Whatever the P30 Pro brings us, it has a lot to live up to. The P20 Pro made a huge impression on the smartphone market, and if the P30 can generate the same sort of enthusiasm then we have something awesome to look forward to.
