Need to capture fast-moving objects with your camera? Sony just announced the successor to its highly rated Alpha A6000 mirrorless camera, the new Sony Alpha A6300 model. It has the world’s fastest autofocus among interchangeable-lens cameras and boasts the most number of AF detection points. The Alpha A6300 is also capable of recording in 4K format.

Specs

The A6300 is equipped with a 24.2 MP APS-C sensor capable of autofocusing in just 0.05 seconds. The lightning fast autofocus is possible due to the revamped autofocus system with 425 phase-detection points. Fast action shooting is possible at 11 fps, while the frame speed is 8 fps in live view. 4K Recording

4K video is quickly becoming the new standard in photography and film, so it’s not a surprise that the A6300 records in 4K. It records in Super 35mm format at a bitrate of 100Mbps, which makes A6300 the first non-full-frame Sony camera capable of this feat.

Launch date

The predecessor Alpha A6000 is currently the most popular Sony camera listed on PriceMe, so expectations are high for the new Sony A6300 model. It will be available in March this year with the with SELP1650 lens. The pricing in NZD hasn’t been announced yet, but US pricing suggests that it might retail for around NZ$1,500 for the body and NZ$1,700 including the SELP1650 lens.
