The new flagship phone
OnePlus 6 scores highly in Antutu benchmark tests that measures the performance of mobile devices.
Different sources have leaked new information regarding
OnePlus 6. There have been both image leaks as well as data leaks from benchmark sites like Antutu. Benchmarks give an overall performance assessment of a device’s performance on a particular platform. The objective is to make it easy for consumers to compare the speed, memory usage and other metrics between different devices.
The score of 276,510 is significantly higher than
Samsung Galaxy S9’s score, which is good news for all OnePlus fans out there. Screenshots from Android Central show results for OnePlus A6000, which is the internal project name for OnePlus 6.
Processor
One could easily guess the processor chip based on the benchmark results. It would have been difficult to achieve such high scores without the latest
Snapdragon 845 processor. Of course, one shouldn’t draw too many conclusions from benchmark tests as we don’t know the exact configuration that OnePlus tested. Nevertheless, it should be a sure bet that Snapdragon 845 powers OnePlus 6.
Screen
OnePlus 6 has a “tall” aspect ratio of
19:9, similar to iPhone X. This is essentially a standard 18:9 ratio with a small notch at the top. It’s interesting to note that the upcoming
Oppo R15 and R15 Plus phones also employ the same aspect ratio, since OnPlus and Oppo have the same parent company (BKK Electronics).
Storage & memory
The phone has
128 GB of storage and
8 GB of internal RAM memory. The predecessor
OnePlus 5T offers two memory options (64 GB and 128 GB), so there might be additional storage/memory configuration options announced at a later stage.
Face recognition
Another cool feature is the camera’s facial recognition technology. There’s a 3D camera module that’s capable of recognising facial features using infrared light. The question is whether it’s better than Apple’s Face ID technology?
Availability
OnePlus 6 will launch in the second quarter of 2018, most likely in June based on remarks from the company and the release date of OnePlus 5.
PriceMe Consumer estimates the price to be the same as OnePlus 5T’s launch price of $900 inclusive of GST.
