Samsung Galaxy S20, the latest flagship from Samsung, will launch on the 18th of February 2020 according to the site Sam Mobile. Hence, this is prior to the Mobile World Conference (MWC) in Barcelona.
The Galaxy S-series is Samsung's top-line of smartphones. Here's a summary of what new features and specs that we can expect for the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S20.
Increased refresh rate screen
The standard image refresh rate for smartphones is 60 Hz. Some gaming phones like Asus ROG 2 sports 120 Hz refresh frequency in order to support advanced games. However, in 2019 we saw the first non-gaming phones entering the market with 90 Hz screens like the OnePlus 7T phone.
The 6.7-inch Samsung Galaxy S20 is rumoured to get a 120 Hz refresh frequency. There’s a menu option in the beta version of Samsung’s Android One UI, which features a setting to disable 120 Hz frequency. Alternatively, only certain apps use a higher frequency in order to save battery life. The menu option interestingly states that the higher 120 Hz frequency yields the "smoothest possible display" rendering.
The Korean company Samsung already supplies 120 Hz screens to other manufacturers, so it should be straightforward to implement this refresh rate on its own phones.
Cameras
Several leaks indicate that Samsung S20 will have a new camera module consisting of five camera lenses. It contains three normal cameras, one sensor and one additional camera whose function is unknown at the moment. The main sensor will be upgraded from 8 MP to 12 MP resolution. The top sensor will boast 108 MP according to findings by XDA Developers.
Processor
Samsung will employ the in-house Exynos 990 processor in Europe and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 in North America. The new Exynos processor features 20% faster graphics due to the Mali-G77 GPU.
