Samsung revives its Galaxy Tab product line by incorporating popular features from different devices into the new
Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. For example, it sports an
S Penthat it borrows from the Note line.
The popularity of Android
tablets has declined the last two years as smartphones become increasingly larger and feature more capable screens.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is the Korean company’s attempt to revitalise tablet sales and challenge the iPad, which is the undisputed king among the tablets.
Specs
The successor to
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 features an AMOLED
9.6-inch screen with a resolution of
2,048 x 1,536 px. It’s also powerful as it’s powered by a
Snapdragon 820processor and has access to
4 GB of RAM memory.
Tab S3 runs the latest
Android Nougat 7.1 as the operating system.
Variants
There are two versions of Tab S3 to choose from:
- A Wifi version with model number SM-T825.
- An LTE version with number SM-T820.
There’s currently no information available regarding various storage options.
Pricing and availability
Galaxy Tab S3 will go on sale in March a few weeks after its announcement at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona on the
26th of February. Samsung sticks to its normal release path and will first offer the tablet in South Korean before commencing the international roll-out.
The price is set to 700,00 Won, which converts to
NZ$966 inclusive of GST.
